Palo Alto has three dryer setups. Basement laundries in the old core with a long run up through a wall to an exterior hood. Garage or hall-closet laundries in Midtown with a short wall run. Stackable closets in the downtown and California Avenue condos with long roof runs. The basement and condo runs are where we find the worst blockages.

Lint that gets past the screen collects in the duct behind the dryer and in every elbow between there and the outside wall. Once the run narrows, the dryer runs hotter and longer. We disconnect the dryer, run a rotary brush the whole length while the vacuum pulls, clear the exterior hood, then reconnect and confirm air is moving out the termination.
