What we find in Menlo Park homes

Menlo Park is small but it has four distinct housing types. Allied Arts, the Willows and the streets near downtown have 1920s to 1940s cottages and bungalows that were retrofitted with central heat, so the ducts run through the crawlspace and are often the second or third system the house has had. Linfield Oaks, Suburban Park and Belle Haven are 1950s ranch homes with under-floor or attic sheet metal.

Sharon Heights and the streets up toward Sand Hill Road are 1960s and 1970s hillside homes, larger, with longer runs and sloped crawlspaces. The downtown core and the El Camino corridor have added condos and apartments since 2010, with small sealed systems and long stackable dryer runs.

Air and dust in Menlo Park

Menlo Park runs from the baylands to the foothills. Belle Haven and the Bayfront side get fine dust from the salt flats in late summer, and Sharon Heights sits under oaks with heavy spring pollen and near the wildfire interface. The 2020 fire season kept the city in the unhealthy range for weeks.
