The rebuilds on the flat have a quiet fan in every bathroom on flexible runs. The original ranches have a hall-bath fan that is often original and loud.

A bathroom fan moves a small amount of air through a small duct, so it does not take much to stop it. Dust and lint build a felt on the blower wheel, the motor slows, the duct to the roof narrows, and the mirror stays fogged after every shower. We take the grille down, clean the wheel and housing by hand and with the vacuum, clear the duct from the fan end and the cap end where we can reach them, and put it back together running.
